Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL)
Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) is a powerful non-destructive testing method used to detect corrosion, pitting, and wall loss in steel structures, particularly in petrochemical tank floors.
By magnetizing the tank floor with permanent or electromagnets, MFL detects changes in the magnetic field caused by flaws. These changes, or 'leakages,' are analyzed to pinpoint the location and severity of defects. Regular MFL inspections are vital to prevent product loss and environmental damage, ensuring the structural integrity and safety of storage tanks.
